Initiatives & Projects

As your City Council Member, I'm working on several key initiatives to improve our community. Here are the projects and policies I'm currently focused on.

Downtown Revitalization

Our downtown area is the heart of Titusville. I'm working to revitalize this important district by supporting local businesses, improving infrastructure, and creating a more vibrant atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Key Components:

  • Small Business Support Program: Providing grants and resources to help local businesses thrive in our downtown area.
  • Façade Improvement Initiative: Working with property owners to enhance the appearance of downtown buildings.
  • Public Space Enhancements: Improving sidewalks, adding greenery, and creating more pedestrian-friendly spaces.
  • Events and Programming: Supporting regular events to draw visitors downtown and showcase local businesses.

Current Status:

The Downtown Revitalization Plan was approved by the City Council in January 2025. Phase 1 of implementation is currently underway, with façade improvements and sidewalk enhancements scheduled for completion by August 2025.

The Small Business Support Program has already awarded grants to 12 local businesses, helping them improve their operations and attract more customers to the downtown area.

Parks & Recreation

Quality parks and recreational opportunities are essential for a healthy, vibrant community. I'm committed to improving our existing parks and creating new recreational spaces for residents of all ages.

Key Components:

  • Park Renovation Project: Upgrading equipment and facilities at our existing parks.
  • Trail Expansion: Extending our walking and biking trails to connect more neighborhoods.
  • Community Recreation Center: Planning for a new multi-purpose recreation center to serve residents year-round.
  • Inclusive Playground Initiative: Ensuring our playgrounds are accessible to children of all abilities.

Current Status:

The Park Renovation Project is in progress, with three parks already completed and two more scheduled for renovation this year. The Trail Expansion project has secured funding and construction will begin in September 2025.

The Community Recreation Center is currently in the planning phase, with public input sessions scheduled for May and June 2025. The Inclusive Playground Initiative has identified two locations for new inclusive playgrounds, with installation planned for fall 2025.

Infrastructure Improvements

Reliable infrastructure is the foundation of a well-functioning city. I'm focused on addressing our infrastructure needs, from road repairs to stormwater management, to ensure Titusville remains a great place to live and work.

Key Components:

  • Road Repair Program: Systematically addressing road maintenance needs throughout the city.
  • Stormwater Management: Improving drainage systems to reduce flooding during heavy rain events.
  • Water Quality Initiatives: Protecting our water resources through infrastructure improvements.
  • Sidewalk Expansion: Adding sidewalks in key areas to improve pedestrian safety.

Current Status:

The Road Repair Program has completed work on 15 streets in the past year, with another 20 scheduled for repairs in 2025. The Stormwater Management project has secured state funding and engineering work is underway.

Water Quality Initiatives include the replacement of aging water lines in three neighborhoods, with work scheduled to begin in July 2025. The Sidewalk Expansion project has added 2.5 miles of new sidewalks, with another 3 miles planned for this year.

Community Safety

Ensuring the safety and security of our residents is a top priority. I'm working closely with our police and fire departments to enhance public safety throughout Titusville.

Key Components:

  • Neighborhood Watch Expansion: Supporting the growth of neighborhood watch programs.
  • Emergency Response Improvements: Ensuring our first responders have the resources they need.
  • Traffic Safety Measures: Implementing traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvements.
  • Community Policing Initiatives: Building stronger relationships between police and residents.

Current Status:

The Neighborhood Watch Expansion has added 8 new watch groups in the past year. Emergency Response Improvements include the purchase of new equipment for our fire department, funded through a federal grant.

Traffic Safety Measures have been implemented in 5 high-risk areas, with additional improvements planned for this year. Community Policing Initiatives include regular community meetings and the expansion of the Police Athletic League program for youth.
